Ok, we admit it.

We love hot metal type­set­ting. It’s our pas­sion.

So we once again were at our favorite place here in Darm­stadt, Ger­many. The »Haus für Indus­triekul­tur«. Just around the cor­ner from our rooms it is partly a museum and partly work­place of one of the last type founders still in busi­ness. If you are plan­ning to go to or hap­pen to be in Ger­many pay a visit to this awe­some place.

One hardly can imag­ine the degree of enge­neer­ing per­fec­tion.

Just about every part of every machine is mov­ing. A smell of molten lead is in the air. Some Fontom­Typers are used to work­ing in a lead type­set­ting work­shop but the »Haus für Indus­triekul­tur« is some­thing else. Every visit sparks at least one idea for our under­tak­ing with Fontom­Type. Won­der­ful place this.
